At TCS, we believe in building greater futures for people and communities through innovation and collective knowledge. Human rights are enshrined in TCS’ core value of ‘Respect for the individual’ and upholding of human rights is an integral aspect of the way we conduct our business, treat our employees and support the communities where we live and work.

We recognize that while governments have a duty to protect human rights, companies have a responsibility to respect human rights. Our approach starts from respecting and protecting human rights in every aspect of our business and supply chain, and remediate any adverse human rights impacts that may be resulting from or caused by our operations. We are aligned with international laws, principles, and norms, including those contained in the Universal Declaration of Human RightsILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and are a signatory to the UN Global Compact (UNGC) since 2006.

The Tata Group has pioneered several labor welfare benefits. These include a standard working day, free medical aid, establishment of a welfare department, leave with pay, workers' provident fund scheme, workmen's accident compensation scheme, maternity benefits, profit sharing bonus and retiring gratuity, all of which became laws of the land subsequently.

TCS’ position on human rights, and all its community programs are guided by the Tata Code of Conduct, Tata Sustainability Policy, Tata Equal Opportunity Policy and the Tata Affirmative Action Programme. Several company level policies addressing occupational health and safety, sustainable and safe supply-chains, privacy, Corporate Social Responsibility, responsible conducts guide our processes and operations.
